Was very sad to read the Wednesday article regarding The Jet in Mill Creek (“Mill Creek bar owner accused of illegal poker”). The owner of The Jet is one of the kindest people I have ever met; and his staff members are, too. The Jet is a local hangout where many of us go and spend time with our neighbors. It is very sad and upsetting that he is getting harassed over what really is such a small issue. Many of us hold these same games in our homes with friends.
The Jet is a home away from home for many of us; a place that you are always welcome and in many cases remembered and greeted with a hug from the owner if you are one of the regulars. I see no reason for the state to take such strong action toward him and his bar. To go into the building like they did is very uncalled for.
The actions that took place at The Jet by those that are supposed to set an example were uncalled for. The Jet is an amazing place with amazing people. It is the place you can honestly go and be welcomed in a second. It is one of the only places that I feel comfortable going; a place you know you are safe unlike many of the establishments in the greater Seattle area.
I encourage people to make their way out there even more so now. I know that I will keep attending and giving The Jet the support they deserve. I feel sorry for the entire crew and owners that they have been treated so unfairly and, in my opinion, disrespectfully.
