I am writing concerning reporter Bill Sheets’ Dec. 12 news story on page B1 in The Herald, “Plane plows through fence.”
I drive on Airport Way almost every day. A whole family on an outing to obtain a Christmas tree on Springhetti Road could easily have been wiped out by the airplane crash. Thank God no one was killed this time. Less than five years ago, there was a near-fatal airplane crash in the same area.
The FAA, NTSB and Snohomish County officials should all require Harvey Airfield to install a concrete barrier at the south end of the runways where the chain-link fence once was located before the crash.
In addition, the taxpayers should not reroute Airport Way and Springhetti Road to accommodate corporate jets at Harvey Airfield. Enough is enough.
