Regarding the Aug. 20 article (“Barriers bother bicyclists”) on the bike trail barriers: I live in Lake Stevens and I’ve been riding that trail ever since it opened. I’ve never had a problem with the barriers. I don’t even get off my bike when I go through. They need to be there because most vehicles won’t stop at the crosswalks even when pedestrians are at the barriers. If we had no barriers, we would have major problems.
