The U.S. government pours a certain amount of money into Paine Field to keep it going. It was used through World War II to provide services to our country. Our country consists of everyday, ordinary people. The people pay taxes to provide for this airport. Boeing and small companies located at the field, plus private pilots, use it.
Why cannot commercial service be added to the use of the field so the real people, that is us the American taxpayers, common ordinary people, could have use of an airport close to them and not have to fight the freeways for an hour each time they need to fly, having to use Sea-Tac, driving an hour each way, or paying high prices for shuttles or what may be available?
Our tax dollars should be considered when the few living in Mukilteo, Lynnwood, Edmonds and other communities complain that it would change their property values and produce noise levels that are unreal. The many studies that have been made show that the levels would not be a great factor. Why spend more tax money making more surveys?
If commercial flights are kept out, close Paine Field completely down for the joy of home owners and forget about Boeing, the small companies, and the private pilots that depend on it. Let the few control the majority. Close Paine Field and let Washington look for other sources of income. Give all the people what they pay for: to be able to use Paine field for what it is designed for, flying and landing aircraft on its runways. Statistics show that commercial flights would be about 5 percent of air traffic. Why not save our tax money and give in to the majority?
