We applaud the Everett AquaSox organization for their recognition of unionism in Snohomish County. It is with great pleasure that Local 644 has participated in their annual event honoring union members for several years. We have been an organized local in the city of Everett for over 50 years. We have endured many mill changes and are still proud members of the community working with Kimberly-Clark, previously a Scott Paper mill.
We appreciated the excellent turnout of union members at the AquaSox game on Aug. 27, who joined in solidarity with their union brothers and sisters. There is an anti-labor movement within the state Legislature and it would like to take away rights of the unions. But by our attendance at this event we showed the strength in our numbers. The union workforce is alive and well in Snohomish County.
President, AWPPW Local 644
