Bear necessities
Smokey, you’ve been warned about this before: Spring is just weeks away and Northwest bears will soon be rousing from hibernation, so the Adopt A Stream Foundation has scheduled a program Saturday at Everett’s McCollum Park with two state Department of Fish and Wildlife officers to share bear country do’s and don’ts.
The first thing to remember is that bears are resourceful. If the DFW officers recommend leaving fresh salmon filets, open boxes of doughnuts and “tasty, tasty uncooked bacon” on the picnic table before you get into your tent for the night, check to make sure that the officers are not, in fact, bears in ranger hats.
Playbook ‘em, Danno: Already missing football? Monday night’s episode of “Hawaii Five-0,” 10 p.m. on CBS, follows the Five-0 squad as it investigates a crime that leads to the NFL Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium.
McGarrett and “Danno” look into the disappearance of an entire stadium of fans, until they realize that this is the Pro Bowl and no one came to the stadium in the first place.
Hail to the chiefs: To mark Presidents Day we’ve listed little-known facts about each of the 44 U.S. presidents.
For instance, Thomas Jefferson attempted to assemble a mastodon skeleton in the White House, but he lost interest after discovering that IKEA forgot to include the hex key needed for assembly.
