Your recent editorial applauding the approval of the agreement between the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad and (Un)Sound Transit was entirely predictable Herald fare (“Better late than never, Sounder is ready to roll,” Friday).
The Herald has never met a tax or a governmental agency that it didn’t like. The recent editorial only corroborates this.
I have to wonder how the editorial board can possibly think that spending in excess of $250 million for one train a day makes good sense. Sure the frequency will increase later, but at what cost? We could purchase a new Volkswagen Jetta for each passenger that will use Sounder from Everett to Seattle during the next two years and still have over $200 million left.
I wonder if The Herald has considered how many police cars, fire trucks, firefighters and police officers $250 million could buy.
