The author of a recent letter to the editor questions whether Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is the best available for the open seat on the Supreme Court. He offers that the appointment of a Black woman was made by the president, based on his desire for “getting himself more votes.”
The letter writer should look at the records of the last three selections for the Supreme Court compare their qualification with the qualifications of Biden’s nominee.
It would take some time to list all of Judge Brown Jackson’s accomplishments and judicial experience. Simply said, Judge Jackson has more experience than any of the last three conservative judges. They were selected by a Republican president and pushed through the Senate to get more votes for the incumbent President Trump. He he did not gain votes, he lost votes. And yes, there was an increase in minority voting for President Biden. And he had not yet nominated any staff members or judges of any ethnicity or background. Hopefully President Biden can now push through three judges for the Supreme Court. Biden needs to select an Asian judge, and perhaps a Native American.
