Once again I could not find parking at the Mill Creek Library. Additional administrative office space has further reduced already insufficient space for patrons. There are only two comfortable chairs for reading. It’s a absurdly tiny Sno-Isle library branch for a major Snohomish County city. Even the new library on Camano Island had a nicer reading area, complete with a fireplace.
Every time I drive by the vacant Safeway building in the West Gateway Center on 132nd Avenue and Highway 527 (across from Fred Meyer) I visualize an ideal location for a new library. Ample parking and a picture-perfect building. Drive by and you can easily picture Mill Creek Library lettered across the stately facade. The building already looks like a library!
That building should be grabbed while it’s available. It could become a library the city of Mill Creek could be proud of. And its location is perfectly located as you enter the city. If it is too large it could easily be subdivided. We don’t need another grocery store in Mill Creek … we need a suitable library!
