Snohomish Police Chief John Turner might think about $30,000 of extra police patrols for Kla Ha Ya Days from now on, considering all the violence caused by three women weighing 100 pounds each (Wednesday article, “Liquor Board tightens control in Snohomish”) that “three police officers were injured.” The police say there were 200 people involved, bar owners disagree. Even if there were 200 people, that’s one percent, no pun intended, of the 20,000 that attended the Bike Show in 2008.
In 12 years of the Snohomish Bike Show, there has been absolutely no violence. Yet, the chief single-handedly put an end to the show by requiring so many extra police officers that it was cost prohibitive to continue the show in Snohomish.
Let’s see if “Johnny Law” requires any extra patrols next year for Kla Ha Ya Days after violence actually occurred, and to his police officers to boot! Will he make a big stink about rival Kla Ha Ya Days gangs scaring innocent women and children? I don’t think so.
