Perhaps members of the House of Representatives should read again the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise there of; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
As demonstrated by a recent vote in the House on campaign finance reform, it appears our elected representatives feel they can ignore the Constitution of the United States. Do they not have any respect for that extraordinary document? The document that makes this nation the greatest, most unique nation in the world – a nation where the power lies with the people, and government power is (supposed to be) limited.
Rep. Jay Inslee needs to explain to his constituents how he could vote in favor of a bill that prohibits our freedom of speech for a period of 60 days before an election!
