Blame Bush?
Everywhere I go, people talk about the outrageous high price of gasoline. Along with this rant I hear that it is President George Bush who is to blame. Fact: Democrat Maria Cantwell stopped Alaska again from drilling for a safety oil reserve that could have produced crude oil to be refined to gasoline to be strategically used to offset the wild price fluctuations in the world marketplace. It was not President Bush who stopped the controlled oil drilling in Alaska. (Maria led the charge to kill it).
It is not President Bush stopping all the high-paying jobs that would result from controlled drilling for oil in Alaska for the good of America. It is not President Bush who has made it impossible to build new energy-efficient oil refineries to keep up with demand for clean-burning gasoline. It is not President Bush who mandated that we change the formula for summer gasoline this time of year, resulting in higher prices and shortages each year.
It is not George Bush tax-gouging 32 cents on each gallon of gasoline (soon to be 35 cents). If President Bush had his way, we would have tax-paying, high-production oil wells in Alaska pumping oil today. We would have tax-paying, state-of-the-art, new energy-efficient refineries processing clean-burning gasoline year around today. We would have thousands of high-quality, high-paying jobs for working families.
It is not President Bush at fault. It is Maria Cantwell and “Patty, a mom in tennis shoes” and like minds that keep us dependent on world market oil prices, so we can pay $3, $4, $5, $6-plus for each gallon of gas until our state and county leaders force us, we the people, into their non-social elite cattle lines on buses.
It is time to change Washington state’s representatives here and in Washington, D.C.
