It’s incredible that the CIA’s interrogation techniques used against terrorist and Iraqi prisoners has only recently come to light. An English lawyer named Philippe Sands (a QC i.e. Queens Council) investigated the situation way back in 2008 and wrote a book about it called “Torture Team.” It’s well worth a read. It defines what being an American is.
Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld were all in on it from ignoring the Geneva Convention (which the U.S. played a principal part in compiling) to the introduction of 11 new torture techniques previously banned by the U.S. and straight out of the KGB play book. Rumsfeld also redefined the limit of torture as “a treatment that doesn’t actually cause death.” In other words, an interrogator can apply unspeakable mutilation to his subject as long as he doesn’t kill him.
Anyway, don’t take my word for it, read the book. It’ a very well-researched eye opener.
