In Sunday’s Herald (“Dems circle the wagons”), you attribute U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee as describing “Republicans as obstructionists pushing an agenda that would undo all the accomplishments the last two years” and “They want to repeal the progress we have made.”
I don’t know about the rest of the United States, but driving the national debt in excess of $12 trillion (with a “t”) and mortgaging the future of our grandchildren is not an accomplishment that I would be proud of, nor would I call it progress. All we need do is look back at recent events in Greece to see what fiscal irresponsibility can precipitate.
You also quote Sen. Patty Murray saying, “It is about people. It is about you.” She’s got that right, doing her part to keep the U.S. in hock to countries like the People’s Republic of China, ensuring that many of our good-paying manufacturing jobs will remain in China for the foreseeable future, as a guarantee against our debt.
I want a change from the status quo (e.g., Rep. Inslee and Sen. Murray), and the easiest way for the American people to effect change is simply to forget party affiliations for once and not vote for any incumbents. This action alone would replace the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate in one fell swoop. Doing so would also immediately regain the respect of voters by the lawmakers, and changes for the better would soon occur. Give it some thought.
