There are problems with the attitudes on both sides of the Waste Management strike. A raise of 4 percent for the strikers is out of line with the economy and other workers in general. They want the same as the garbage haulers but don’t have the same risk. And maybe (novel idea) the garbage haulers should be willing to take less. I don’t know what the CEO and upper management earn but it should be reasonable. Are they taking advantage?
And some cities have the right to fine WM. Why not fine, also, the union workers (not the union itself)? They are as much at fault as WM if they won’t settle. All three must be fair and reasonable in their expectations. Are they?
