Bothell residents lack compassion

I am completely disgusted and profoundly ashamed of the people of Bothell. What I’ve seen on TV about Bothell tells me that the local majority of the people there are cruel, uncaring and lacking in human empathy and compassion regarding the homeless camp that has been set up there.

I understand how costly owning a home may be – but even when the people of Bothell were assured that the people living in the tent city are monitored and regulated, they still screamed and yelled in a town meeting, which was televised, against the homeless.

I sincerely feel that these people have lost touch with all that is humane and kind!

Let me ask the people of Bothell the following questions:

1. Did it ever occur to you that you and your family could be one or two paychecks from being homeless?

2. Did it occur to you that a catastrophic illness with huge medical expenses could send you into poverty?

3. Where has the human decency and compassion and empathy gone?

4. Have the people of Bothell tried sleeping in a tent when it’s only 46 degrees and damp outside?

5. How did they become so cold, so heartless?

Instead of welcoming the homeless and poor and offering them warm clothes and blankets, etc., these selfish, yuppie, uncaring people have shown their true colors and shamed those of us who still have a heart.

Thank God for the church that offered these poor souls a place to put up their tents! This church deserves to be commended for their kindness!

Wake up, Bothell. Live in the real world.
