My wife and I are Special Olympic bowling coaches who serve athletes in the Darrington and Arlington area. During the last weekend in October, more than 150 athletes from Northwest Washington gathered together for the NW Regional Bowling Tournament in Mount Vernon. Special Olympics of Washington has done a fantastic job in providing opportunities for athletes with challenges to participate in sport competition. I wish to congratulate all the athletes; you exhibit exemplary sportsmanship and you all are winners. And to all the coaches who worked diligently with your athletes, job well done. You should be as proud as we are.
Finally, we wish to gratefully acknowledge and publicly thank Steve Saunders, owner of Rocket Alley in Arlington. For over the last several years he has supported Special Olympics, hosted our practices and promoted our program. He has made a difference.
