Attention all managers of television and radio stations, Western Washington needs your help.
There is a plague that has touched most news media. The disease is “yeah,” “you know,” “I mean,” and “uh huh.”
Where have we gone wrong, when the disease has almost eliminated the clear-speaking use of the word “yes?”
Any current dictionary has many, many words to use instead of “yeah” and “you know, ” etc.
National broadcasters seem to be untouched by the plague – except ESPN and TBS. Both stations have reporters/analysts who can barely utter a sentence without the offending words and phrases.
Please bring back the high standards of broadcasting. Our younger generation deserve the right example of proper speech brought into their homes.
