Democracies depend on sharing accurate information. Libraries disseminate information. Washington State Library staff work tirelessly to include rural residents in the information loop. They travel, train, secure and administer grants to benefit our state’s smallest communities. Last August child care workers, Head Start staff, tribal library staff and others received training near home thanks to Washington State Library staff.
Our governor must make tough choices regarding budget cuts. Closing the Washington State Library and cutting this consulting service for rural libraries is false economy and affects so many children.
