I read the paper, every day. I know about the wetlands buffer topic (“Panel discusses proposed Critical Areas Regulations ordinance,” The Herald, March 19).
The County Council of course sides with the housebuilders. This corporate greed cancer has to grow. What if instead of them building four-stories tall, overpriced units that will be vacant in four months because the “affordable” housing costs too much to rent, why not build 900 small, micro houses on the same lots, and charge $500 a month.
I’ve seen the plans for these small units. Two rooms max. One large room say 10 by 12, another small bathroom with a shower just like most of family houses in Spain. Homeless people would adapt and love it after being outside under a piece of cardboard in the rain for years.
I know this for a fact. I have had homeless friends here in Everett for ten years. Seems our council can only think big, expensive options for housing. Think small, adequate.
