Bus offers good way to get kids there

Regarding the Thursday article on the discontinuation of rides from Granite Falls to the Lake Stevens Boys &Girls Club(“Kids club leaves Granite Falls”): My first thought was that there is still an easy way for kids to make that trip – on Community Transit.

Route 280 runs from Granite Falls through downtown Lake Stevens and back every hour each weekday. The bus also runs on weekends. That bus takes passengers from the site of the old Granite Falls Boys &Girls Club to the Lake Stevens Boys &Girls Club in about 16 minutes. Youth fares (17 and under) are 75 cents each ride.

Community Transit also provides excellent bus service to other Boys &Girls Clubs around the county: Alderwood, Arlington, Edmonds, Monroe, Mukilteo, Snohomish, Sultan and Tulalip.

If parents have any worries about putting their young teens on the bus, they can rest assured that young people ride our bus safely every day. In fact, there is a good chance many of these kids have gone through our School Transit Education Program, which reaches 10,000 youth a year throughout Snohomish County. In that brief program, kids learn how to read a bus sign and schedule and how to safely and effectively ride a Community Transit bus.
