Oh, come on, Herald! Tuesday was President Bush’s last day in office, after serving this country for the last eight years, and the only article that you had about him on Tuesday showed a small picture of the president and a large photo of protesters throwing shoes at an inflatable effigy of him.
Meanwhile, you had huge accolades and positive photos everywhere in Wednesday’s edition for our new president — including an unprecedented full size front page photo. Yes, this is an historic inauguration, and yes, we wish the best and our prayers are with Barack Obama. But let’s also show respect and honor to President Bush, who, although he is not eloquent, not perfect, and faced difficult times these years after 9/11, he is a man of character and patriotism who has not only served America as president, but through his policies kept us safe from another terrorist attack. Those alone should garner much more newspaper coverage that is positive in nature.
