Can we please put a stop to bombing?

Well, it’s approaching that time again — illegal fireworks in unincorporated Snohomish County. And I don’t mean on the Tulalip reservation!

For the past 10 years, complaints have been made regarding some yahoo on Russell Way, across from new development, just west of Highway 99, who obviously has a lot of disposable income and spends it on illegal fireworks. This wouldn’t be so bad if the fireworks were limited to the 4th of July only and ended at least at midnight. However, the sessions begin anywhere from one to two weeks prior to the holiday and last until at least a day or two after. And the explosions go on well past midnight. I’m talking big bombs and aerials. M-80s, M-160s or what ever they are called, (certainly not what you can buy at the “Safe &Sane” stands around the county) rattling windows a block away.

I understand patriotism and enjoy celebrating Independence Day, but this seems a tad much. (As a matter of fact, on Saturday, the explosions started around 9 p.m. and went on for a while — obviously celebrating Flag Day.) Point being, complaints have been submitted and nothing has been done. I realize the County Sheriff’s department is spread pretty thin in South County, but I and others think it’s about time something is done about this person. The location would be easy to find … just follow the noise and the lights in the sky.
