Candidate’s win in Lynnwood an encouraging sign

Even though affirmative action measure Referendum 88 failed in the recent vote, I want to thank the citizens of Lynnwood for making affirmative action happen anyway.

Julieta Altamirano Crosby is the first Latina ever elected to a citywide office in Lynnwood (and in all of Snohomish County). What an amazing accomplishment for highly diverse Snohomish County! Look for more of this to happen, as our cities, the county, and our voters move forward with embracing all our residents and making civic participation more reflective of our mixed population.
