If you drove past the Everett Events Center on Sunday and saw the Nazi rally, then you saw me. I was the woman in black. Like you, I drove past to witness the unexpected horror of Nazis on our streets. Unlike you, however, I stopped. Unwilling to ignore their message I stood alone in protest, finally to be joined by a lovely young Jewish woman, Michelle, and her son, while her husband is serving in Iraq.
Yes, even the Nazis are entitled to free speech, but to let their message of hatred and intolerance go without opposition is wrong. I stood firm while they threw insults at me and you and I will continue to do so each and every time they are in our community.
Next time, I hope you will join me in silent and peaceful opposition. We cannot turn our backs on this group. They need to hear loudly and clearly that they are not welcome in our All America City!
