We are certainly living in an interesting time. After watching both sides posture I doubt that many of them could balance a checkbook let alone set a household budget. Why do we think that these politicians are going to do the right thing for our nation?
I believe it’s a battle of doing the same old D.C. business as usual or getting serious like Canada did a few years back … cut, baby, cut. Ya know, I’m so old I remember when our U.S. dollar was worth more than the Canadian dollar. I can’t believe we’ve allowed this to go on so many years. That we haven’t insisted that House and Senate members be on the common people’s Social Security system (just for starters). Then see how long it takes to revamp the system. I personally don’t care if we default … Hello! Wake up call to our corrupt officials (no, not all) but certainly most of the old guard that care for them and theirs.
We have allowed fraud in welfare, Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac and the list goes on and on and on. No party willing to step up and make the hard choices for change. I’m just afraid we have so many on the public dole that those of us who worked all our lives are soon to be the minority. We need radical change (not like we’ve gotten over the last two years). It should have started years ago but as long as our politicians (mostly career, mostly lawyers) were fat and happy, no change. What do you think?
