Regarding the Wednesday letter, “Dangerous riders must be stopped”: I commute on my motorcycle from Stanwood to Seattle and back most days, even in the winter. On average, I put 12,000 miles a year on my bike. I have been pushed out of my lane many times, and almost forced off the Ship Canal Bridge by inattentive drivers.
I admit that there are bad motorcycle riders, but there are also bad drivers. I see drivers treating I-5 like it is Le Mans. If I were to write a letter to the editor every time a person in a car drove poorly around me while I was on my motorcycle, I would be writing you every day.
If you check the statistics, you’ll find that more motorcyclist are hit by cars than the other way around. I commend the letter writer for at least noticing the rider. To all the drivers out there, remember that there are other people on the road and some of them are on two wheels.
