Many of us have had one or two heroes in our lifetime. They’re often a coach, neighbor, or beloved teacher. Someone who befriends us, believes in our ideals, and makes us feel valued as a human being. We remember them with deep respect and admiration and they impact our lives forever.
I had the opportunity to meet two such people through my involvement with the Everett Historic Theater.
John and Ida Mae Schack honored thousands with their gifts of friendship, encouragement, and vision. The standards by which they have lived are evident to all who hold them in high esteem.
Their endowment list seems endless, including the Children’s Museum, the symphony, Everett Historic Theater, Everett Public Library, hospitals and always the youth programs. This area is so blessed to be the recipients of their goodness and generosity.
We lost John Schack recently, and while we mourn our loss, we know he’s on another special mission.
To Ida Mae Schack and her extended family, I want to thank you for your enduring gifts to the city, and to let you know we all lost a very special hero.
