Your Tuesday editorial regarding the 2014 Human Rights Report takes a cheap shot at Sen. Marco Rubio. You state that Mr. Rubio “keeps going on an on about the wrongness of the Obama administration’s restoration of ties with Cuba,” and that to be consistent, Rubio should also say something about our ties with Russia given his previously stated concerns regarding human rights violations in Cuba.
The placement of Mr. Rubio’s name under the bold headline “Rights abuses hit a new low,” seems to imply that he bears some responsibility or acquiescence for the human rights violations occurring in Russia. Really? The Obama administration and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton are the architects of our current policies and ties with Russia. How did the “Reset Button” work out for LGBT rights, Ukraine and Crimea?
How did accepting millions from Putin for the Clinton Foundation work out for the cancer patients who are being denied pain medication? You are right, Mr. Rubio should comment on Russia’s human rights violations and you should print them. Along with Mr. Rubio’s comments on the Human Rights Report, I would like to see you print Mrs. Clinton’s thoughts and her response to the questions posed above. To be fair, all the other presidential candidates should address the abysmal human rights violations occurring in Russia as well.
