There’s a new list out of TV’s 50 greatest icons. In honor of the list, some TV Guide-style cheers and jeers:
Jeers to the TV icon list for placing William Shatner 18th. First he’s written out of the new “Star Trek” movie and now he’s stuck below Roseanne. How many blows can he take before his ego is slightly bruised?
Cheers for honesty to Yakima City Councilman-elect Rick Ensey, who has admitted — after the election — that his wife spread vicious rumors about his opponent on the Internet. Ensey’s apology is at ScrewedYouOverAndGotAwayWithIt.com.
Jeers to the Sonics, who, as Julie Muhlstein writes, are threatening to break children’s hearts by skipping town. If that’s not enough, the players are breaking their coaches’ hearts when they try to play defense.
Finally, cheers to the WIAA, which governs state high school athletics and is made up entirely of former hall monitors. Archbishop Murphy students complained Tuesday about their football season being wiped out over a minor paperwork blunder. But the kids have to learn that paperwork is more important than “fairness” or “competition.”
Actually, this would be a jeer, but the WIAA outlawed booing last year and rules are rules.
