I am not afraid of gun control. I am not afraid that my government is going to send drones or Apache gunships to shoot me. No, I am afraid of my neighbors and their arsenals. I am afraid of people who hate and fear, I am afraid of people who hear the inner voice of god that tells them its OK to kill. I am afraid of the righteous and deluded all worked up over socialists, communists, hippies or other bogey men that are not threats. I am afraid of crazy people that can not be diagnosed until they enter the building with their guns.
For these reasons, I hope for the banning of assault weapons and the end of the civilian arms race. These weapons will never be used against the government to defend against tyranny, they will be used against the rest of us, and our children.
