The Israel/Hezbollah War was the perfect war. Israel claimed victory. Hezbollah claimed victory. Iran claimed victory. The United States claimed victory. Since this was a win-win-win-win situation, we can only hope for more – and bigger – such wars to solve all the world’s problems. Under our nation’s current leadership, we’re sure to get them.
Our own ongoing Iraq war is almost the perfect war. President Bush declared “Mission Accomplished” just two months into the war, but with the mission not quite accomplished, he exhorts us to “stay the course” repeatedly. However, he tells us, it is a victory for the U.S., as well as for Iraq, which is now almost perfectly stable and enjoys a real democracy which stands as a beacon of light to the entire Middle East and the world. Here at home, our own democracy has become stronger, as well, with the government monitoring everything we do despite outmoded laws to the contrary.
With such astounding successes under the unwavering, bold leadership of our president, it is a wonder that his poll ratings are so low. Can’t people see the gains that have been made during his presidency?
