I read with interest the article about the tombstone vandalism at Evergreen Cemetery in July, so I went down there to see if the tombstone of my great-grantparents (Olive and Mattin Getchell) and their young daughter, Daisy, were OK, and they were.
However, what really impressed me was that the Eagle Scout and his group of volunteers would go in and help clean up. (Aug. 12 article, “Scouts care for Everett’s forgotten”). There really are some nice young people who were ready and willing to do this. So I would like to thank these young men for their effort. Why people would vandalize a cemetery, I am not sure, but knowing there are good young people out is great. Thank you, young people, from the bottom of my heart.
