I was a little disturbed by a recent high-tech exhibition foretelling what the future has in store for us.
The Digital Age has brought forth a flood of digitry (hardware and software) that is spreading quicker than a flu virus. First our dens and offices were festooned with digitry; then our kitchens and living rooms, bedrooms and garages. Followed by our cars and boats. A panorama of “essential” gadgetry that we cannot, apparently, live without.
The aforementioned exhibition was aimed at the final frontier; the human edifice. The remaining piece of real estate ripe for digitry exploitation. Smarter phones, computer wrist watches, pendants, gloves, earrings you name it. They are all targeted by Silicon Valley graduates panning for the billion dollar thing-a-me-gig. Well, I’m not looking forward to it. I dread the time when I will have to plug myself into a wall socket at night to charge myself up for the next day.
