In response to the Thursday letter about state funding for abortions, perhaps the writer needs to have a better understanding of what Planned Parenthood does.
Planned Parenthood provides birth control and options when someone is pregnant. However, that is not all they do.
Years ago I was unemployed and had to use Planned Parenthood for my yearly exam. They discovered cervical cancer, referred me, and it was all taken care of and didn’t cost me. A scary situation could have been much worse if I would have had to either not have the procedure due to lack of funds, or worry about paying for a procedure when I had no job or medical insurance.
So, before the writer blasts Planned Parenthood or the state for provided funding, perhaps he should get a better understanding of all their services, a minor portion of that being referrals to doctors who do perform abortions.
