The majority of the Snohomish School District coaches and extra-curricular advisers are teachers within the district, and therefore support the Snohomish Education Association’s bargaining efforts, including the Aug. 27 strike authorization vote by its members.
However, at this time coaches and advisers will continue to perform their extra-curricular duties and assignments even if the Snohomish Education Association leadership calls for a strike.
The coaching and extra-curricular contracts are bargained separately from the teaching contracts, and currently operate under a different time frame. Most coaches and advisers feel it is their responsibility to abide by the terms of the current agreement, and are hopeful that the district and the Snohomish Education Association will reach a fair and viable agreement, as soon as possible.
