It is interesting to note that when Bill Clinton bombed Serbia back into the stone age, we did not hear a peep from the so-called anti-war crowd. A bombing campaign
that was conducted from 20,000 feet and was carried on relentlessly for 90 days. This on civilian centers with thousands of civilians killed and wounded. This without a
U.N. resolution or backing nor any authorization from Congress.
There were no anti-war activists going there from the United States or European countries to stand beside hospitals, schools, bridges and other public infrastructure as human shields. There were no “united church” officials pleading to give peace a chance. There were no peace activists saying “war never solved anything.”
Could that be because the Serbian people were Christians and not Muslims? Could it be because we then had a Democrat as our president? Democrats at that time initiated resolutions in the Senate allowing Clinton to go to war with Iraq at his whim without a U.N. resolution.
No, this is an anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Bush coalition that is supported by many prominent Democrats, as evidenced by their participation in the Jan. 18 “anti-war” rally in Washington, D.C. For those who say “war never solved anything,” they might consider that war brought our independence from England, ended slavery
in our nation, belatedly stopped the slaughter by Hitler of Jews and other “undesirables,” freed millions in the Far East under dominination by imperialist Japan, and prevented the Communist takeover of South Korea. This was paid for in precious blood by hundreds of thousands of young American GIs, sailors, airmen and Marines without whose sacrifice we would no longer be a free nation. For those who say war never solved anything, might it be that they would be “trying” to voice their opposition to war today in German, Japanese or Russian?
