The atheist who wants to have the monument with the Ten Commandments on it removed from our city has as much a right to be an atheist as I have to be a Christian. This is a free country!
I wonder what his code of ethics is that he lives by. Is he a liar, is he a thief, is he a murderer, does he honor his mother and father, is he covetous, does he use the Lord’s name as a cuss word or does he commit adultery?
If he doesn’t do any of these things, then he’s living by the very commandments that he wants to get rid of. This seems ridiculous to me. Those commandments are a code that, if we live up to them, would give us a happy life and a respected place among people.
Card doesn’t have to believe in God to live by that code.
I say, leave it where it is and even use it as a guide to raise your children. I believe a lot of kids would profit and become great people if they were raised with that code of ethics.
