The Dec. 23 guest commentary by Barb Lamoureux was a work of art! I have been a Realtor for 23 years, and she is right on about the negative comments in the media about real estate news! Everyone seems to enjoy hearing bad news and so the slant will probably always be in that direction.
We, the Realtors, face our clients/customers on a daily basis, and we are expected to confront a very emotional time in buyers/sellers lives and try to soothe the “bumps” of their emotional state of mind at a time when they need confidence building. If we paint a truthful picture of the climate in real estate that honestly lets everyone involved become more comfortable (even if it’s not so good news), the written word in print, if it’s negative, then we (the agents) become the dummies, because people’s beliefs generally are that it wouldn’t be written if it wasn’t true. That’s a lot of power in print!
So, hats off to Barb! Good job, well done!
