Along with empathy, I felt immediate emotional numbness and then within seconds sadness overcame me as I read the horrific story regarding the police officer’s 7-year-old daughter who was accidentally shot and killed by a sibling.
What a tragic event for the sibling, the rest of the family, their loved ones, friends, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office investigators and for our community as a whole. May those directly involved in this mournful incident eventually find peace and then find the motivation to use their horrendous story to help others who are also trying to answer that age old question: “Why do these things have to happen?”
As with many people, I feel for the family, their loved ones, and the investigators involved in this gut wrenching tragedy. On a more positive note, I would like to pay tribute to The Herald writers for printing the news, yet honoring the family’s wishes and right to privacy.
