The Silvana Community Association, along with many other non-profit organizations, would like to thank The Herald for supporting our organization by publishing our events in the paper. Although Silvana has been a town since the early 1880s, it is not incorporated and does not receive tax dollars to support all the needs of the community. Volunteers and events like our fair board auction, firemen’s pancake breakfast and rummage sale, bingo and our annual flea market help meet these needs.
Fundraising events, along with donations from folks in the area, enabled our volunteer fire department to purchase the jaws of life, a thermal imaging camera and two defibrillators. Our recent association flea market and bingo raised enough money so that we can buy four tables and 150 chairs for our community center, Viking Hall. We also would like to thank the folks who donated so many good items to our sale and to the folks who came and found their treasured item at our sale.
