The celebrations of Naval Station Everett’s 10th anniversary were remarkable expressions of community support extended to our Navy families. The energy, spirit and generosity demonstrated by community leaders in the organization of three celebration events in one week was truly inspiring.
Great tribute is paid to the men and women of Naval Station Everett when we hear of the many small business owners, companies, labor unions, community organizations and individuals who choose to go above and beyond expectations to honor our military families.
On behalf of the community, our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce Navy Affairs Committee, ambassadors and staff, and the major underwriters of the festivities: the Everett Mall, Kirtley Cole Associates, Snohomish County PUD, Brien Motors, Hyundai of Everett, NorthSound 1380 and The Herald. Thanks also go to the many generous sponsors who made the anniversary events happen.
To the many table sponsors who welcomed the sailors from Naval Station Everett to join them, thank you. To the children of Everett and Snohomish County who created heartfelt essays and artwork, well done. And, of course, we salute the many men and women of Naval Station Everett who helped make the 10th anniversary week special.
The response from the Navy to our anniversary celebrations has been very positive. Your generous contributions of time and resources added greatly to the significance of these milestone events in the history of the base and the history of the community. The Navy leadership understands why we are “The Sailor’s Choice.”
Mayor, Everett
