Our community has a powerful and compassionate ally in the fight for good health. Last month, my dear wife of 40 years was in the Emergency Department twice, and a total of 10 days in the hospital. In significant measure, it is due to the kind and gentle care she received at Providence that she is well on the road to recovery today.
When you are at your lowest point and are torn by anxiety, Providence doctors, nurses, assistants and orderlies are there. Pleasant, encouraging and gentle, they take on the most difficult and thankless tasks. They are saints in our book. A big shout of thanks to the saints of A Wing and D Wing!
The crucifix in my wife’s room was a reminder that the spirit of the Sisters of Providence guides hospital administrators and staff. Just as Jesus in his mercy gave up his life and rose again for suffering humanity, so the faithful who operate Providence extend mercy in the name of Christ. So much of the time in our busy lives, we never think of them, and yet, there they are, day or night, whenever we need them.
Bless you, Providence hospital. You are a treasure to this community.
