Without a doubt the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor was a defining moment in Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency and then again, so is 9-11 for President Bush.
That being the case then why on earth are the Democrats and their proponents kicking up so much dust about a brief 9-11 moment in a campaign ad? Could it be political? You bet it is.
Most likely John Kerry’s defining moment is his four-month stay in Vietnam as a Navy lieutenant. To his credit he was decorated. However, upon his return to the states he discarded his medals, joined the anti-war crowd and in front of a congressional committee publicly demeaned all those brave souls who fought and either survived or died, as well as those still in country to the dismay of many Vietnam vets.
It would appear that the battle for the presidency has been joined. Too bad it is so early in the year.
