Why has The Herald staff been cut to the bare minimum? Why has the Broadway Bartell’s been shuttered, with several local grocery stores soon to be sold off in the wake of the Albertsons-Kroger merger? Why is Boeing struggling to regain its once proud reputation? Why are so many people finding it difficult to afford housing? Why are our national treasure and reputation being squandered by funding self-destruction in Eastern Europe and the Middle East?
The common culprit behind these realities is the ever-increasing financialization of our economy. What’s more, Wall Street has gained control of our national politics. I think most would agree that something has gone very wrong.
How to fight back? A start would be to send a true representative of the people to Washington, D.C. this November. Jason Call is independent of Wall Street banks, corporations, and the political establishment. The District 2 incumbent, Rick Larsen, on the other hand, is completely in the pocket of corporate lobbyists. I encourage those who are ready for a change to show their support in the Aug. 6 primary.
