Well, who wouldn’t want the health insurance the Congress has given themselves? That is a huge entitlement that doesn’t seem to be mentioned in their agonizing deliberations on health insurance for the rest of us. Oh, they have worked so hard. I think they should either put us on their plan (preferred because they already have it all figured out) or they should go on whatever pathetic plan they decide to give the rest of us. And pay for it. Out of their salaries. And it is just one of their many perks, privileges and entitlements.
The Herald on June 28 reported that on his way out of Congress, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah called for members of Congress to receive a housing stipend of up to $30,000 a year. “I really do believe Congress would be better served if there was a housing allowance. Federal lawmakers have trouble stretching their $174,000 salaries to cover housing in Washington, D.C. — one of the most expensive places in the world — and homes in their congressional districts.”
