We have an important question: Can’t President Bush call the House and Senate back into emergency session to create and pass a bill reinstating our sales tax deduction? We’ve heard “they” are holding the deduction “hostage,” even though every member agrees that it should be reinstated.
The IRS says the deduction needs to be reinstated by Oct. 15 so the forms can be printed with the correct information.
Why was it so important for Congress to get their “duffs” back home to campaign this early? They seem to be out of session more than they’re in session. They have dangled the “bait” all year long and now it’s October!
And, we’re hearing rumors that the deduction will not be allowed for this year’s taxes! Excuse us? There is no excuse! One of us was in a serious car accident this year and we had to replace our car. We definitely want to be able to deduct our $2,278 in sales tax! We weren’t planning on buying a different vehicle. We had the other car for barely 11 months.
Being one of only eight states that this deduction affects, I would think President Bush would call everyone back just to stay in good standing with his brother. Florida is also one of the states affected, and, you know, his bro’, Jeb, is the governor.
Congress, quit dangling the bait and give us back our sales tax deduction!
