As an 80-year old veteran of World War II, there are very few newspaper articles that I think are true. However, with the many articles in several different newspapers concerning medical and health insurance costs along with my own experience, I suggest a recommendation for action.
In my own experience, since my retirement, the total cost of my medical bills are a small fraction of the money paid to insurance ($189 per month), along with Medicare deduction for my medical from social security.
I suggest that our federal government declare a national medical emergency and draft all doctors and nurses into the military, with no rating higher than sergeant. This action will make possible the medical attention necessary for all citizens at a reasonable cost, by eliminating the insurance companies and their millionaire officials.
