Cost should offer new push to quit smoking

In response to the Jan. 1 article, “Tobacco tax hike takes effect today”:

The Tobacco Free Snohomish County coalition support the “smoking” community in becoming smoke free through cessation programs and public education. We hope that this increase in tax, along with its benefit to the Basic Health Care Plan, will be yet another strong incentive to become a former smoker.
