Well, the fuel prices have finally made me decide to cut back. With gas and diesel now screaming toward $4 per gallon, while oil company profits and executive salaries are astronomical, here is what I am doing. First, I canceled a new car I ordered. I can’t afford payments and the gas to use it. Secondly, I will no longer purchase tickets to any sports events, museums, shows etc. because I can’t afford to get there. Third, I will not buy a hunting or fishing license. This will assuredly please the tree hugging eco-nazis who have had a major role in the decline of domestic oil exploration, production and delivery devices. Namely, no new refineries.
The impact of my eliminating these costs will have a small individual effect, but if many others are forced to do as I have been forced to do, the sales tax revenue will be seriously reduced. The government’s reaction will be obviously to raise property taxes and devise new ones. Color me mad as hell and I vote!
